This solved it for me. Hinzufügen Playlists werden geladen... Now I know that I need to install the drivers but I think that if I do that I will be right back to square one!!! I then "reinstalled" the drivers from the DVD that came with the pc.

Got device manager and disabled onboard video controller. When she brought it back and plugged it in, we got no video.
