Don't know if it's Parallels or the Win10 VM, but suspending fixes. It will not relaunch, it is not showing in the activity monitor so I can not kill the task. weird! It happened to me after I had tried almost everything else. I ll try this tip if it happens again and will let you know. The finder shuts down, but the dock is still visible and all the apps are usable.

I highly recommend trying to swap out parts (RAM, CPU, video card, etc) to see if it's any more stable. Computer Keeps Freezing It seems that the majority of people are observing that *parts* of their system freeze. It keeps doing this and always reboots at the exact same place.

So I think it was how the video driver was working and/or interacting with the OS.

Or must some poor innocent person now say - "Yes, my screen freezes too" in order that we are all warned - the job is still not fixed. That is the LEAST that can be done. One thing is they are trying to be everything to everyone and now they don't do anything well. So basically, even when I click on safemode, it restarts the computer, I can't even get to the desktop, and the windows cd won't work either. I switched to Firefox and have gone for several months until I experienced a freeze last week in Firefox, my first, and had just gone through the latest system update.

I upgraded to El Capitan with reluctance because it forced other upgrades such as VMWare Fusion, but I did so hoping for a fix. try it with 6cell... I have this problem since January 2016 (OS X 10.11.2 at that time, 10.11.3 on January 19th, 10.11.4 on March 21st and now 10.11.5). But even when I go to the control panel and try to delete it, it reboots itself, it's almost like it freezes until it reboots or something.
