Allright, I was working on a computer with a CDROM and HP CDRW, both were and have been working, the bios recognizes both of them. Good Luck, I have the same drive and I guess I'll try the reply about opening the unit up and snaping whatever in place. The only solution in that case is to replace the drive with a more recent model. DVD recordable discs - If you have a recordable DVD that cannot be read make sure it is not a Generation 1 DVD drive and that it supports recordable DVD media. And because you don't need a burning program to read them, you can't have the wrong burning program either!
