XP Not Recognizing Cd


I can't even do a system restore to a date when the drive showed up in windows because the last restore point is past that point in time! Did the UPPER/LOWER, worked fine for a day. Microsoft, as a suggestion, please make available to the users of your ops software…Windows XP, Vista, etc., the necessary drivers or issuse an update to check whether or not CD/dvd drive I know this may look like a hardware problem, but the drive works fine if I access it in the brief period before it goes away.

Last August ((2008) because microsoft may not have fixed or addressed the problem when 2010 gets here), had same problem as other people on this blog. Is this a problem only on dual disk systems? The systems SEES the drive, it just can't read anything in it. I got my drives back after I downloaded the fix, then rebooted. Deinstalled drivers. I agree that this is a MAJOR Microsoft screwup and it is completely ridiculous at the negligence and disregard that they have shown to those of us affected by it.
