it's not "not recognized". Sometimes the fix is easy and sometimes it is a bit more complicated. Also the current PC works with different flash drives (1GB and 16 GB) in the """front USB""" well in windows XP but the extHDD won't work on front USB. Surprisingly, the answer is fairly simple. On Macs, the drive should automatically appear on the desktop. I am having the exact same issue as you and haven't found any fix. I've tried it on Vista and Windows 7.

Windows 10 is an unfinished OS that should not have been released before more bugs were ironed out. Previously the motherboard of the PC was ASUS p4S133 having some power problems but worked for 6 years with that problems and finally has bean dead after 15 years working ,
