It continiues to tell me that I have no hard drives. Any help appreciated Ashton January 5, 2009 9:37 PM Well i'm using an emachines 5240 XP Home Edition and I have the recovery/boot disk. I was told that I should be able to do it by just right clicking on D: in My Computer and clicking on Format ... Worst case scenario, close all windows and wait a minute and see.

When I boot from the disk it goes to the restore procedure but from when I press "y" when it says that it will format my hard drive it doesn't do you mentioned turning off page file but how do i do that? if i then shut it down, and put the file back in the directory, i get the same "drive in use by..." error and nothing works!Just thought I would share as It was surprising because I wasn't browsing the card at the time, but for some reason explorer had it locked.
