There is only the option of "help", I tried using the HD on a different system. My guess is that my drive had suffered some sort of surge that had blown out the drive's internal USB adapter... Even if it doesn’t appear in your Computer window because it doesn’t contain any partitions, it should show up here.

I have no idea what the difference is between the two. when i connected the seagate to the usb of the tv the hd drive can access power from it. Again, go to Device Manager, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers, right click on the one that has USB 3.0 in the text and choose Update Driver. is there another way of saving the info on this drive ?
