You have a 4 port lan switch and you have a router with a single wan port and a single connection to the 4 port lan switch. For those purposes a gigabit switch makes perfect sense, but at my home I could care less. Using a Gigabit switch on your network along with you router is (in my opinion) a very good Idea. Also, what is your budget?
