I don't know why Microsoft went to the trouble of embedding this nuisance--maybe too many people try to print from the browser rather than from the PDF viewer. Not very convenient but if it is only very few files, online converters do the trick. I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 (all updates installed).
