I'm a big fan of System Restore (although I realize others may not be) and it has resolved some sticky issues for me over the years and versions of Windows. If you installed an update or hardware driver and the problem started after that, you can uninstall the driver or update and block them from being automatically installed again. Also set it on Automatic if it is not.

Now, you just might have to use the "reset" feature instead. and you know what, I did not care much anyhow.
